Watch the thrilling video here as Miguel Angel Torres knocked out Manny Tapia in the 2nd round.

Manny Tapia had mouthed oftentimes prior to the MMA fight about knocking cold Torres, who did not go wrong to notice Tapia’s audacious words.

So Torres acted Tapia’s game and, as it usually is in Torres fights, it was a no contest. Torres knocked Tapia down twice and beat him on the ground, forcing a stoppage at 3:04 of the 2nd round.

“Manny was babbling out about knocking me out, but I have pretty proper standup,” Torres said after rising to 35-1.

Tapia had blood flowing down his cheek at the post-fight news league, courtesy of Torres’ jab. And though Tapia (10-1-1) did not consider he could lose a toe-to-toe fisticuffs, he was rapidly disenchanted of that opinion.

Seconds into the fight, Torres downed him with a jab that had Tapia blinking away.

“I always believed I had a great chin, but I guess not,” Tapia said.

There are men like WEC bantamweight champ Miguel Angel Torres, who has not only conserved his full-time job while gearing up to fend for his mixed martial arts belt against Manny Tapia at WEC 37 at the Hard Rock Hotel on Wednesday night, but who grooms with anybody who walks in off the street.

There are guys with pot bellies and kids whose baby teeth haven’t yet come out training next to a man who has one of the most accomplished games in mixed martial arts.

Part of the sport’s fame stems from the fact you or I can stroll into a gym like Torres Martial Arts in Hammond, Ind., Plump a couple of bucks and a few minutes later be billowing with the champion.
